If you live in Neve Shamir or have thought about moving there, you have probably heard about the new plan to expand the neighborhood. This is a plan promoted by the Ministry of Construction and Housing and its goal is to connect Neve Shamir to Ramat Beit Shemesh Aleph. As part of the plan, buildings will be built in the empty area between the neighborhood and Ramat Beit Shemesh Aleph, including shops, offices, and residential buildings, with a total of 890 apartments. Between the new buildings, there will be steps that will allow direct passage between Chaguel and Yarkon.
As part of the plan, a new road will be paved from the square at the end of Hashlosha Street, which will surround Hagoel Street from below, and connect on the other side to Frank Street near the new Matnes. A map of the new plan can be seen here:

The plan is causing great opposition among residents because it came shortly after the approval of the initial plan. Based on the initial plan, residents bought apartments with an open view, and according to the new plan, additional buildings will be built in front of them, which will create a nuisance of noise and dust during construction, and block the view by the end of it. In addition, there is concern about the increase in traffic congestion already felt at the entrance to the neighborhood, when a large part of the neighborhood is not yet populated.
The approval process for a new plan is long, and currently, the plan is being promoted but has not yet been finally approved. Only after the plan is approved will the land be marketed to developers who will be able to begin planning the buildings and selling apartments.
